While I worked on this book, I enjoyed all aspects of the process from the thinking and planning to the research, to the paragraphs percolating in my thoughts, to the final writing. I fall in love with my characters if that is possible. I enjoy their company and their voices inside my head.

Primary sources are vital to historical research; and I remember feeling excited when I found memoirs of original writings from women in the 1930s London who helped form and shape my story. Reading some of these memoirs and letters in their hand, made it easier for me to transform Caitlynn from a literary protagonist to more of a flesh and blood person. I’ve never lost that thrill of reading something written long ago, not to mention the research I did on Egyptian archeology and the Nazi Ahnenerbe.  

Determined to find the answers, Caitlynn fumbles her way through and enlists the aid of her best friend Merlyn Zhou, daughter of the Chinese ambassador, and the two intrepid women embark on the ultimate adventure to Cairo in search of clues.
