About The Author
My official biography:

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Van Kramer's lifelong interest in art and science was fueled at a young age by her father and grandfather, both soil science experts. Later as she began writing her trilogy, her knowledge of agriculture formed the basis for her novels about human survival for future colonists on Mars. At a time when human spaceflight and exploration on Mars becomes a foreseeable future, her true desire is to support these undertakings through action packed, entertaining and thought provoking stories.
With a B.A. from the University of Florida in graphic design, she achieved several Addy awards but later refocused her talents. Discovering a deep connection between creative writing and the visual arts, she gradually began writing.
Aside from an accomplished career in graphic design, and a published writer, Van Kramer's spends her time with family in Raleigh NC seeking to unveil the mysteries of the universe and dreams of the future.

Baxter — A Self Published
Story

This adorable book for children about Baxter the frog and his friends in a Wisconsin lake was written and illustrated by my mother Frances Melton. Once she finished writing it and gave me the illustrations I put the book design together for her using InDesign. Later I uploaded the file into Kindle.

I had it set up to order on Amazon as a paperback or hardcover. When anyone orders the book, it's whats called a POP - or print on demand system and has no added cost to the author. The book is simply printed and sent to the customer through Amazon.

She orders a few copies for herself to have on hand and enjoys promoting it herself in the area in Lakewood Wisconsin, and sometimes Florida. The pitfall with self publishing is that you do have to promote it yourself, but one thing I would never recommend is handing out you book for free.

Even though the book is self -published, a lot of work and hours of time went into its creation and a customer should always be willing to pay.
